We have completely revamped our special Mackintosh Tours for 2008. This all-inclusive package will take you to a selection of the most important sites at which to view the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries, who together are known as the creators of the Glasgow Style.
Explore the genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries, beginning with a reception and illustrated talk at the hotel on Thursday evening. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be a full day tour by coach, with a qualified Blue Badge guide to the most important Mackintosh properties that are available in and around Glasgow. This includes the Glasgow School of Art, The Mackintosh House (Hunterian Art Gallery), The Mackintosh Church (headquarters of the CRM Society), House for an Art Lover, The Willow Tea Rooms and The Hill House in Helensburgh and not forgetting Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The tour also includes a visit to the world famous Burrell Collection and a City familiarisation tour.
Best Western Glasgow Pond Hotel
Situated less than 2 miles from Glasgow City Centre and 8 miles from Glasgow International Airport, the Best Western Glasgow Pond Hotel, a famous and much loved Glasgow hotel, is set in Glasgow’s fashionable Victorian West End, set among Georgian terraces and overlooking a landmark pond. Formerly the ‘Jurys Pond Hotel’, the hotel is now owned by Portland Hotels, one of Scotland’s most prestigious and forward looking hotel groups.
The cost includes three nights dinner, bed & full Scottish breakfast, coaches, Blue Badge guide, admissions, lunch at The House for an Art Lover and The Mackintosh Church.
